Wool-gathering

Sometimes we are inhaling information, and it has to become integrated before we can exhale.

Creatives in particular are subject to this ebbing and flowing of inspiration – which is another word for “inhalation.” We become filled with Spirit, and if we are clever and humble, we can then allow Spirit to speak through us. Not many people can hear Spirit speaking, so it is important that creatives allow the information to flow through and out of us in the form of artwork, songs, poetry, and stories. There are many other forms of expression, of course, and all of them have the potential to be vehicles for Spirit communiques.

Truly inspired work seems difficult to find these days, though there are entertainments aplenty. There are artists, songwriters and writers, poets and sculptors who allow Spirit to come through their work, there always will be because that’s sort of the exchange for the gift: “We’ll give you certain abilities if you will allow us to use them to speak to other humans.” But damn they are sometimes hard to find. And so many people are not even aware that they exist. This has always been the case, though. About twenty-five percent of people fall into the “creatives” category, and seventy-five percent are anywhere from disinterested to oblivious. Yes, there truly is an entire Otherworld beyond ordinary reality, existing side-by-side with shopping malls, reality television and Friday night football. You betcha. Seventy-five percent of people not only don’t notice it, they try their very best not to. They don’t want to see what lies outside their very safe and ordinary lives.

Those people are not reading this blog, and they never, ever will.

But you are, so I am guessing that you want to see beneath the veneer to the worlds above, below and between. I have a few tricks up my sleeve. Here’s a big one. Sit alone in the dark with no media on, cellphone off, and a single candle, preferably inside a clear glass hurricane or globe. Have a glass of wine that has been steeping with some mugwort for a few hours. Mugwort is a bitter herb that sort of . . . inserts a crowbar into the cracks of our perception of reality. It’s up to us to apply the requisite force to open the cracks, through concentration, focus and meditation.

Activating the Third Eye is key, but what that means is usually not made clear by most teachers, and I think a lot of people who talk about Third Eye activation have no idea what the hell they are talking about. Third Eye is actually not an “eye,” no matter what you read on the internet. The Pineal Gland is the Master information processing center having to do with hormones and brain chemistry, emotions and imagination and inspiration. When activated, it acts as a bypass filter for visual, auditory and olfactory information that would ordinarily be processed and interpreted by more rational parts of the brain. When activated we, like the Witches and Wizards in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books, “can see what is really there.”

“Yeah, but,” you object, “the reflections in the glass and the weird shadows and such, you’re going to see all kinds of stuff that is probably just . . . you know, your eyes playing tricks on you.”

Get thee out of my sight; begone to the perilous pit of the seventy-five percent.

Wrap your head around this right now, or give up on being a Creative and go become a corporate drone. Because we have loosened the grip of our rational mind on the reality it expects to see, we are able to perceive another layer of it, and it desperately wants to communicate with us. Those strange shapes that your rational mind is trying to tell you are just shadows? Yes, they are shadows, but because for a few seconds you thought those shadows looked like your grandfather or the Goddess or an Oak Spirit, then fucking believe that with your entire being, because your Third Eye and your Subconscious are now fully engaged and ready to impart some fucking wisdom on your ass.

Have your journal beside you and write this shit down, because like dreams it will fade and you’ll be left with the impression that you thought you saw Kuthumi talking to you through the reflection of a candle flame in a glass instead of actually capturing the wisdom that he was layin’ on ya.

Get over your tiny self. This, right here, is how it fucking works.

You want a little more razzle dazzle? That’s where the “allowing it to speak through you” part comes in. If you are a painter, paint it as vividly and with as much intensity as you can muster. If you are a poet, embellish the shit out of the encounter with lofty twilit imagery and mystic verbiage. If you are a storyteller, make it a tall tale. If you compose music, write the most gorgeously haunting melody you can, and float it over shimmeringly mysterious and mystic harmonizations.

Kryon recently broke it down, too, stating that the soul inhabiting the body is a mere fraction of what our soul really is, a sliver of light compared to the blindingness that we truly are. That big soul wants to help us, wants to guide us, wants to comfort and protect us. All we have to do is listen with unprejudiced ears and look with clear vision. Which is what engaging the Third Eye is all about. Listen with awareness. You will become aware that you know things that  you didn’t know that you know.

And now, you know.
