Happy Calendrical Roll-over Day!

The day we celebrate our national hangover by setting impossible goals for ourselves and swearing we’ll never do it again ever promise promise promise. Until next time.

So it goes.

I’m not a big New Year celebrator. I prefer the Celtic way, the new year starts on Samhain, as the Long Night settles in. We sleep, and then we do. I have gotten so used to doing my yearly check-in and intention setting during the 3 days of Samhain that January 1 is barely a blip on my radar.

But for those who do the whole December 31-January 1 resolution-fest, here’s a song to support your end-of-year detoxing and clearing, from my 2021 record The Light You Can’t See In the Day.

Down to That River

I'm goin' down to that river, I'm gonna shed my old skin
I'm goin' down to that river, I'm gonna shed my old skin
I'm gonna wash in that water, until I'm new again

I'm gonna bathe in that river 'til I crawl out on the bank
I'm gonna bathe in that river 'til I crawl out on the bank
I will swaddle myself in fine woven linen, and then I'll give thanks

I'm goin' down to that river, I will plant my garden there
I'm goin' down to that river, I will plant my garden there
From seeds in my body, a water from my tears
