Microplastics and Forevers

A weird little pile of random stuff, captured by my girl Aisling Webb.

Microplastics are everywhere, and forever chemicals are, apparently, as forever as diamonds.

Hooray for us. Well, that’s what you get for not thinkin’ things through, folks.

And of course I wrote a song about it.

Livin’ in the age of chemical cruelty
We got shit that’s never goin’ away
Microplastics in our bodies
Is this the end for the human race?

You do the best you can, but you can’t always tell
You try to eat the food with the fewest words you don’t know
And that strategy worked for a while, ‘til we learned
There’s plastic in every little thing that grows

Anthropocene is a bit of a misnomer
Not all of us are greedy bastards at heart
Who have pushed back all decency and compassion
In service to profit for the smallest part

And what the hell are we s’posed to do now?
It was too late before they figured it out
So will we live out our lives in sick misery
Or scream into the face of unrepentant greed?
