SoundWorks Shamanic Healing & Journeys

Humanity has a unique ability to dream a new world into being. But first, we have to wake up.

Do you want to be The Dreamer, or The Dreamed?

Shamanism has been around for longer than anyone knows. Modern humans have existed for anywhere between 50,000 and 250,000 years, some say longer, and during a huge part of that time, Shamanism would have been the way those ancestors related to the world and to the Divine.

The Shamanic Cosmological Model says there are three worlds, the Upper Realm, home of the spirits, and generally speaking where “We” go after the transition from the life of the body into the life of the soul, to process the experiences of living and to decide what we want to do next; the Under World, home of the ancestors and elementals, and the seat of the collective unconscious; and the Middle Realm, right here, where we spend our material existence, eating, drinking, breathing, falling in and out of love, having kids, getting jobs … doing the Things. When these three worlds are in balance, we prosper, but when they are knocked out of order by … you know, our consumerist and material-obsessed culture that values money more than wisdom and sucks the life we come here to live right out of us, well … life can suck.

The Dream of Eden, being in the beautiful garden that we were given to steward – the beautiful garden that our loving Earth-Mother never, ever kicked us out of – becomes the Nightmare of Hell, because Heaven and Hell are all around us right here, waiting for us to choose which one we want to acknowledge.

Our ancestors knew the way back. They knew how to balance the three realms and thrive into a bright and peaceful future they dreamed into reality.

Doesn’t that sound better than being stuck in a nightmare world you never wanted, never asked for, never created, victim of the whim of Sorcerers who are actively dreaming of greed and unlimited power?

Yeah, me too.

Sound + Shamanism = Yum

Sound healing is absolutely shamanic. Rhythm, tone, chant, drones, bells, drums, rattles … and yes even singing bowls and tuning forks are part of it. Sound was the first medicine, and it remains as effective and powerful as it ever was.

But paired with shamanic visioning, journeying, and the subtle perceptual shift of realizing we’re all dreaming, all the time, and we need to wake the hell up and dream with powerful intention, and there’s no stopping the healing train, folks.

People often say, if you take one step toward “god” then they will take one thousand steps toward you. They’re not wrong. Once you set your feet on a shamanism-powered path and start living in harmony with your own dream, you are going to heal – and transform, and rise. And become fearless and strong, and maybe even learn mastery over time. Not even kidding.

We are all made of stars, and all made of music, and all made of energy. We’re energetic beings incarnated as humans so we can FAFO. Yes, literally. There is no other way to learn what it is to be. Creator/Source made this place for us to screw up and learn how to solve our own problems. Pretty slick, to be honest.

Shamanism is compatible with any non-fundamentalist religion. If you believe in the great abstract wahoonie in the sky, and not some beardy dude in a long bathrobe (though not as cool as The Dude, obvs), you’ll get it. And all will be well. Jesus himself had some pretty shamanic ideas, as do the Sufis and the Buddhists. There is no Devil, and we make Earth into Heaven or Hell based on how we respond to the world around us. As long as you’re cool with that, you’re good.

Shamanic Journeys

One of the main practices of Shamanism world-wide is journeying to either the Lower World or the Upper Realm to seek counsel and healing, to learn from wise ancestors and archetypes, and to reset who we believe we are so we can move forward in a more authentic and powerful way.

Shamanic journeying is driven by either an audio driver, such as a drum, or in some cases by a psychedelic driver, such as ayahuasca or psilocybin. To be clear, and honest, using a psychedelic to try to do the inner work of shamanic journeying is kind of like cutting off your leg to avoid clipping your toenails. And no, we don’t do it that way. They call it under the influence for a reason – your brain is being driven by a substance, and you have no choice but to follow it where it wants to take you. With an audio driver, such as 4 beats per second (BPS) drumming, your brain naturally entrains into Theta, but you are in charge of your experience, utterly and completely. It’s much faster, safer, and more effective. Yes, it requires a smidge more effort, but it’s so much more worth it.

Shaman, teacher, neuroscientist, and author Alberto Villoldo says Shamanic Healing can do more in 30 minutes than traditional psychotherapy can in 3 years. That has absolutely been my experience. Shamanic journeying is the most powerful emotional healing I have ever personally encountered. I encourage you to try it and see.

Bang a Drum

Four weekly visits is a great way to start our work together, in order to create some healing momentum. Compare it to an alchemical process, like being in a healing crucible of transformation. You will learn how to release old pain and trauma that are keeping you stuck in somebody else’s dream, and learn how to dream your own world into being through vision, intention, imagination, and determination. It’s like getting superpowers, only you don’t have to wear tights and a cape.

There will be homework – you wouldn’t go to the dentist and then not brush your teeth after you eat, would you? The stresses of life will still be going on around you, so it will be important to do a little daily maintenance to keep making progress. A little journaling, maybe some breathwork, possibly a fire ceremony or two, and a magical ritual that creates safety wherever you are, can make all the difference in your success. I’ll keep you accountable. We’re in this together.

Four weekly sessions: $400 – sessions must be booked over 4 consecutive weeks unless arrangements are made in advance.

Most people find that monthly sessions keep them feeling lighter, brighter and less anxious. Sessions are approximately 60-75 minutes, with 30-40 minutes of journeying time and a few minutes to set the intention and integrate your experience.

We have migrated to a Pay What You Can system of pricing, in order to support our clients who are struggling financially at this time. Formerly, sessions were $85, but seriously, I am honored to serve and will work with you at whatever level you can afford. If you’re doing well and you can pay $85 or more, you will make it easier for me to continue to help those who are struggling, and I appreciate you.
